Hello Panthers! I am proud to serve here at Antioch High School as Vice-Principal.
As an administrator, I believe in building relationships, repairing the harmed, and tapping into the multiple intelligences of every student. Before becoming an administrator, I taught English Language Arts at the elementary and middle school levels for over twenty-three years. I also served in various roles, including Teacher Mentor, English Department Chair, and Middle School Liaison. My commitment to education has been recognized through numerous awards and accolades, including Cincinnati Public School District Teacher of the Year Finalist, Mary Allan Fellows Award and Antioch Unified Teacher of the Year.
Outside of my professional commitments I enjoy cooking, spending quality time with my family, and beating anyone who dares to challenge me in Phase10, Uno, Scrabble or Words With Friends!

“Education is eternal!” This is a quote from my 7th grade English teacher at Claremont Middle School in Oakland, CA. I have held true to this philosophy my entire life. Growing up I always knew I wanted to work with young people. I believed I was going to be a pediatrician, so after graduating high school at Athenian, I left for University of Virginia with the thought of applying for medical school after graduation. I even worked in the renowned University of Virginia Hospital and helped complete research for a medical journal article. After coming home for a summer and helping in a friend’s classroom, I started to get the teaching bug. Following college graduation, I attended one year of law school and decided that where my heart really felt the largest tug was in the classroom. I stated subbing in 4th grade class and found my true passion.
I have taught 4th grade (all subjects), 5th grade reading, 6th -12th grade RSP Special Education, and 9th – 12th grade Moderate Severe Special Education. After several years in the classroom, I decided to move into administration for two reasons. The first was so that I could extend what I knew was helping my students thrive in my classroom to other classrooms around the district I was working in. The second was as I believed it was a way to help my fellow educators reach teaching and instructional potential that I knew we all had, but just didn’t feel like we had a voice at the table to achieve. I became a Special Education Program Specialist Admin and then moved into being a Vice Principal in the wonderful world of middle school. I moved back into Special Education administration for a short few years but missed working directly with students. This year I have had the honor and privilege of realizing my dream once again and serving the students and families of Antioch High!!
So excited to see all the learning, growth, and fun we will have this year at AHS! Go Panthers!!!

All my life I wanted to be a teacher. It was the one place I felt confident and safe in my unpredictable and chaotic childhood. In 2000, I started as a 4th grade bilingual teacher in Oakland right out of college on an emergency credential. I soon realized that I wasn’t prepared to adequately provide students with what they needed. In 2005, I returned to education as an SH Instructional Aide and Substitute Teacher at BDMS, unable to resist the educational field. I then became the teacher of that class when the position became available and worked on getting my credential and Masters in Special Education. I eventually left the classroom to work as a Program Specialist and Special Education Coordinator with the hopes of building deeper and more seamless connections between general and special education programs. Missing direct contact with students, I left the district office to DRMS and Park as a VP. I've now begun a new adventure as a high school VP here at AHS!
During my time as an educator, my passion has been connecting students through individualized interventions based heavily on building relationships between schools and families. I believe that students NEED to have healthy and nourishing relationships to be connected to each other and to become responsible citizens. Community schools focus on uplifting students as integral to our overall success as a society and provide the opportunity for students and educators to learn from one another to create meaningful and dynamic learning outcomes that greatly benefit our world. We recognize the incredible impact of building a foundation of socio-emotional wellness to support lifelong learners and compassionate leaders. I’m proud to live and work in my community and see the long-lasting effects this shift has made.
