Hi everyone! I grew up in Antioch and came back to teach math! Growing up, I participated in Mock Trial, Model UN, and I competed and placed regionally, nationally, and internationally between my two favorite sports- soccer and futsal. I earned my degree from UC Berkeley while also taking several classes at DVC, volunteering in Bay Area schools, and serving as club president.

I earned extra money in college by tutoring across a wide age/subject range and I have since expanded to tutoring Math, English, Speech, some Science/History, and a variety of Test Preps (SAT, ACT, AP, ASVAB, GED, CHSPE TEAS, HESI, Plumber's Union, CSET, CBEST, etc.). It was through this that I realized I love teaching and working with people, so I continued and earned my teaching credential. Aside from my work at AHS, I have taught math at Berkeley HS, SAT prep at Oakland HS, and Pre-Algebra at DVC's "College for Kids (CFK)" summer programs. I have been an advisor for AHS's MESA (Mathematics, Engineering, Science Achievement) club since 2019!

My hobbies include solving math puzzles (are you surprised?), Star Trek (watching and reading, just not the animated series), Stargate (all series), couponing and maximizing discounts, gardening and vermicomposting (worms are awesome!) hiking, photography and photo editing, acrylic painting, and occasionally dabbling in coding and website/app building.

Fun Fact: My foreign languages in college were Middle Egyptian Hieroglyphs, Egyptian Hieratic, and Akkadian Cuneiform.

While I do love math, I of course have many non-math interests.

Some non-math goals I have include finally taking the time to learn more languages (Spanish and Cantonese are high on my list), attending Star Trek- con, taking painting classes, and writing a fantasy novel that sells on an actual bookstore shelf.

Let's have a great year!
