City-Schools Standing Committee

Purpose of the City-Schools Standing Committee

In 2024 the City-Schools Standing Committee was re-established by the Antioch Unified School District Board of Education in partnership with the Antioch City Council to foster and sustain strong, collaborative relationships between our two governing bodies.

With a shared commitment to the guiding principle of "Whole Child, Whole Community," the Committee works to align policies and practices that support the overall well-being of everyone in Antioch—from prenatal to senior citizens.

Our work is grounded in the belief that healthy collaboration between the City and the School District is essential to creating a thriving community—one that promotes health, wellness, academic success, and economic security.

We proudly celebrate Antioch’s rich ethnic and linguistic diversity and are committed to building bridges between generations of families who have called Antioch home for decades, those who are new to our city, and those who will join us as our community grows through new housing developments.

Together, the City and School District strive to be a model of innovation—working hand-in-hand to ensure our systems evolve to meet the needs of a changing world. We are dedicated to preparing our young people for success in careers that don’t yet exist, equipping them with the skills, creativity, and adaptability they’ll need to thrive in the future.

Through our collective efforts, we aim to ensure that every resident feels a true sense of belonging—and that their needs are met not only within our educational system, but throughout the vibrant and interconnected fabric of our city.
