Dear Carmen Dragon Families,
On behalf of the Carmen DragonElementary School Staff, WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL for the 2024-2025 school year! Our first day of school will be Thursday, August 8th at 8:00 a.m. The following is information for families about upcoming events related to the start of school. Additionally, there are several other important documents linked below, please follow the link and read this important information.

TEACHER ASSIGNMENTS
o Class lists with teacher assignments will be posted on the front office window beginning Friday, August 2nd after 5 p.m. through the first day of the school year, teacher assignments are subject to change as enrollment and staffing fluctuates at the start of the school year
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: ARRIVAL
o The Transitional Kindergarten (TK) and Kindergarten first day information is attached.
o Parents/guardians will be allowed on campus before school on the first two days of the year to assist their child in transitioning to their new class. Parents/guardians coming on campus will be expected to park in the designated parking lots (attached) and not in fire lanes. Parents/guardians will be asked to say “good-byes” and depart campus by 8:15 a.m.
o Beginning Monday, August 12th, all visitors will need to check in and have approval of the teacher and/or administration to be on campus.
o Staff will be stationed around campus to help students find their classrooms on the first several days of school.
o The school gates open at 7:30 a.m., please do not drop your student off before this time.
o Students arriving to school between 7:30-7:45 a.m., will wait in the cafeteria for classrooms to open.
o Students arriving after 7:45 a.m., will walk directly to their classes where their teachers will be waiting.
o Students eating breakfast will go directly to the cafeteria from 7:30-7:55 a.m. for breakfast.
o On the first day of school, students will receive a registration packet and emergency cards which must be filled out and returned to your child’s teacher the next day, Friday, August 9 th
o Please make sure to sign up for the Parent Portal if you did not sign up last year

FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL: DISMISSAL
o Please assist staff by ensuring that your child understands and can articulate transportation or walking home plans to his/her teacher.
o If you will be picking up your student from the car line, teachers will walk students to the front of school where they will be lined up on the “red dots” waiting for you. Please do not pick up from the second lane or street where they would be walking into traffic, this is not safe.
o Parents/guardianscoming on campus to pick up their childwill be expected to park in the designated parking lots (attached) and not in fire lanes.
o Students waiting for parents who are walking will be lined up on the “white dots” in front of the library fence.

IMPORTANT UPCOMING DATES:
o Thursday, August 8th -1st Day of School from 8:00 to 11:25 a.m. - minimum day for all students,TK and Kindergarten Student/Parent Orientation from 9:00-10:00 a.m.
o Friday, August 9th-2nd Day of School from 8:00 to 11:25 a.m. - minimum day for all students
o Monday, August 12th–Regular school schedule 8:00 to 2:30 p.m. (1st-6th), 8:00-11:25 a.m. (TK), 8:00 to 1:00 p.m. (Kindergarten)
o Wednesday, August 14th – Wednesday Schedule, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (every Wednesday during the school year for K-6th grade)
o Thursday, August 15th–Back to School Night – 5:30-6:30 p.m.
o Friday, August 16th–Minimum Day for ALL students – 8:00 to 11:25 a.m.
o Monday, September 4th–Labor Day – No School
