OPS Families Every month we have a drill to practice what to do in case of an emergency (fire, shelter in place, earthquake, lockdown). Today we held a lockdown drill. A lockdown would take place if there was a stranger on campus or if police notifies us that we need go in a lockdown. In partnership with Oakley PD, staff has been trained on what to do in this type of a situation. If we were in a real situation, along with notifying OPD and district officials, we would send messages out to families giving updates and directives based off what OPD advises us. This is also why it is important for you to make sure you are signed up to receive messages from the school and your student’s teachers, as well as making sure the office has your most up to date contact information in Aeries. We don’t want to scare our students, but unfortunately, we live in a world where there are these types of situations. The safety of our students and staff is a top priority which is why we have monthly practice drills and a closed campus.

Reminder for Conference week dismissal times: February 26 through March 1st is Elementary Conferences. Minimum day dismissal times are Kinder at 11:40, 1st through 3rd at 11:50 and 4th through 5th at 12:00. Middle School Conferences and minimum days are February 29th and March 1st. The middle school dismissal time on those days is 11:45. For our families with elementary and middle school students, it is important to your middle school student's education that you do not pull your student out early because he/she will be missing valuable instruction time. Pulling your student out early also affects his/her attendance record.
