About Us

Empowering and Inspiring ALL Students to be Their Best!

Our Mission

Mno Grant students will be provided a safe and nurturing learning environment.  All students will have access to a comprehensive educational program that promotes individual worth.  The Mno Grant Elementary community will focus on treating members of our learning community with respect by demonstrating responsibility for one's actions and learning.  Mno Grant Elementary staff members, parents, and students will work cooperatively to provide an environment free from any forms of harassment.

Our Vision

Our goal is to educate the whole child to be a lifelong critical thinker and learner.  Students will be academically and technologically literate.  Students will learn to be effective collaborators and to take responsibility for their actions.  We’ll take them from Common Core standards to common sense application.

History of our Namesake

Mr. Mno Grant began his educational career in Antioch in 1946 at Antioch Junior High School. He had a lifelong affiliation with the Antioch Unified School District. He was the principal at Belshaw Elementary School for 31 years and also served as a school board member for 12 years. Mr. Grant's 51 years with the school district was memorable for thousands of students. When he retired from Belshaw in 1985, over 1,000 students showed up with hugs, gifts and affectionate notes. Mr. Grant continued his community service in retirement with the Senior Citizens Center and committee work on senior housing. He continued to help students at the Liberty Union High School District's independent study program in Brentwood. Ground was broken for this school, symbolizing his continued devotion to the students of AUSD. Thus, Mno Grant became the namesake for Mno Grant Elementary School on July 8, 1998. He later became the Citizen of the Year at the age of 87. He will always be remembered as a significant contributor to the education of thousands in the Antioch Unified School District.
