The Antioch Unified School District is pleased to provide many educational options to our high school students. To prepare our students for college, career, and life, our high schools offer rich curricular and instructional programs based on an academy design. Eighth grade students are encouraged to review the available options and to select a high school program based on their interest. Admission to Academy programs is by application and lottery.
Each high school offers students a comprehensive program of study preparing them for College, Career, and Life. Among the required courses for graduation are many of those needed for admission to college. In addition, each high school offers a number of “Linked Learning Academies” which provide students the opportunity to focus their learning around a career theme linked to training and jobs in our area. Academies connect learning in the classroom to real-world application.
Linked Learning Academies are built upon the following principles:
Students take a sequence of career technical courses that link the content across the curriculum
Students experience career-based learning activities
Academy course work meets college entrance requirements
Academies are open to all students; no prerequisite requirements
Academies provide a system of support to ensure student success
